Weld Strength Privacy Statement

Effective date: 25 August 2026
Last updated: 25 August 2026
Version: 1.0

Weld Strength is an iOS strength-training tracker built around small private groups (called crews) who share leaderboards. This Privacy Statement explains what personal information we collect when you use Weld Strength, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have in relation to it.

We have written this statement to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). We are a small Australian developer and may not be legally required to comply with the Privacy Act in every respect, but we have chosen to handle your information as though the APPs apply in full, because some of the information you give us (in particular, your bodyweight) may be regarded as health information and deserves that level of care.

Please read this statement before creating an account. By creating an account you acknowledge that you have read it and consent to the collection, use, storage and disclosure of your information as described here. If you do not agree with it, please do not use Weld Strength.

1. Who we are

Weld Strength is developed and operated by Dominic Paranthoiene (ABN 97 696 355 236), a sole trader based in Queensland, Australia. In this statement, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that developer.

You can contact us about anything in this statement at:

Email: privacy@weldstrength.com

Weld Strength is available through the Apple App Store, initially for users in Australia. It may also be available in other countries. If you use Weld Strength from outside Australia, the notes in section 12 apply to you as well.

2. A short summary

If you only read one section, read this one.

We collect your email address, a display name you choose, and the workouts you log (exercises, weights, reps, dates and any bodyweight entries). We use that information to run the app, calculate your personal records and show leaderboards to the members of any crew you join. We store it with Supabase, a cloud database provider whose servers for this app are in Japan, and use Apple to deliver push notifications and Resend to send account emails.

We do not run advertising, we do not use analytics or tracking SDKs, we do not sell or share your information for marketing, and we do not collect your location or your contacts. Weld Strength currently generates no revenue and takes no payments.

You can delete your account, and all of your server-side data, from within the app at any time.

3. What information we collect

3.1 Account information

When you create an account we collect:

An email address and password are required to create an account; without them we cannot provide the app to you. Your display name does not need to be your real name. If you would prefer not to be identifiable to other crew members, choose a display name that does not identify you.

3.2 Fitness and health information

When you use the app to log training, we collect:

Bodyweight is optional. If you record it, it is stored in a bodyweight log, a copy is attached to each workout session logged at that time, and it is used to calculate a “relative strength” figure (weight lifted divided by bodyweight). We treat bodyweight as sensitive information under the Privacy Act and handle it accordingly (see section 5).

3.3 Crew information

Crews are private groups you create or join. For each crew we hold the crew name, the list of members, the member who created it, and a six-character join code used to invite new members.

3.4 Device information

To deliver push notifications we collect an Apple push notification token for each device you sign in on. This is an identifier assigned by Apple to your device for notification delivery only. We also keep a log of the notifications we have sent you (recipient, notification type and time) so that we do not over-notify you.

We do not collect advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, precise or approximate location, or your contacts.

3.5 Information stored on your own device

A full copy of your own workout data is also stored locally on your iPhone so that the app works offline and loads quickly. This local copy is under your control and is discussed further in section 8.

3.6 Information we do not collect

We do not use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking software. We have verified by code review that the app contains no Google Analytics, Firebase, Sentry, Amplitude, Mixpanel, PostHog, Segment or Facebook SDK. There are no advertisements in the app. We do not collect government identifiers such as Medicare or driver licence numbers.

3.7 How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you create an account and use the app. We do not obtain information about you from other sources. If we receive personal information about you that we did not ask for, we will destroy or de-identify it unless we are required by law to keep it.

4. Why we collect it and how we use it

We collect and use your information only for the following purposes.

To provide the app. Your account information lets you sign in, and your training data is the core of what the app does: logging workouts, calculating personal records and showing your progress over time.

To run crews and leaderboards. If you join a crew, some of your information is shared with the other members of that crew so that the leaderboard and crew features work. Section 6 describes exactly what other members can and cannot see.

To send you notifications. We use your device token to send push notifications, for example when your ranking on an exercise changes within your crew. You can turn notifications off in your iPhone settings at any time.

To send you account emails. We use your email address for security and account purposes only, such as password resets and email verification. We do not send marketing emails.

To keep the service secure and working. We may use account and device information to investigate problems, prevent abuse and maintain the integrity of the service.

We will not use your information for any purpose that is unrelated to these without first telling you and, where the law requires it, obtaining your consent. We do not use your information for direct marketing and we do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Sensitive information

Bodyweight, and the training data from which aspects of your physical condition might be inferred, may be “health information” and therefore “sensitive information” under the Privacy Act. We only collect this information because you choose to enter it, and by entering it you consent to us collecting and using it for the purposes in section 4. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting your bodyweight entries, or by deleting your account.

We will not use or disclose bodyweight or other health-related information for any purpose other than providing the app to you and to the crews you join, except where the law requires or permits it.

6. Who can see your information within the app

Weld Strength is built around small closed crews, so it is important to understand what other members can see.

Other members of a crew you belong to can see:

Other members of your crew cannot see:

People who are not in a crew with you cannot see any of your information. Anyone with a crew's join code can join that crew, so please only share join codes with people you are happy to train alongside. You can leave a crew at any time, after which its members can no longer see your information.

If you use the “share routine” feature, the routine's name and exercise list are encoded in the link you generate. Anyone you send that link to can see that routine. No other information about you is included in the link.

7. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with anyone for advertising or marketing. We share information only with the service providers we need in order to run the app, as follows.

ProviderWhat they doWhat they receive
Supabase Cloud database and authentication All account, fitness, crew and device information described in section 3. Data is hosted in Japan (Tokyo region).
Apple Push notification delivery Your device token and the text of each notification, which may include display names and exercise names (for example, “[Name] is now #1 on Bench Press”).
Resend Transactional email sent from weldstrength.com Your email address and the content of account emails such as password resets.
Vercel Hosting of the application code Your personal information is not sent to Vercel, with one exception: shared routine links pass through Vercel's servers, so a routine's name and exercise list may appear in ordinary web-server access logs. Standard access logs (IP address, browser type) also apply, as with any website.

Each of these providers acts on our instructions to provide its service to us, is bound by its own privacy policy and contractual terms, and is not permitted to use your information for its own purposes.

AI coaching. The app contains an optional AI coaching feature that uses Anthropic's Claude model. At launch this feature is not available in the public app and is limited to specifically entitled accounts (in practice, the developer's own). If the feature is made available to you in future, we will tell you and ask for your consent before you use it. When it is used, it sends workout summaries and recent bodyweight entries to Anthropic under the user's own Anthropic account and API key. No name, email address or account identifier is sent.

Legal requirements. We may disclose your information where we are required to do so by law, a court order or a regulator, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the safety of a person or to prevent a serious crime.

Change of ownership. If Weld Strength is ever sold or transferred to another operator, your information may be transferred with it. We will notify you before that happens, and the new operator will be bound by this statement unless you are told otherwise and given the opportunity to delete your account first.

8. How long we keep your information and how to delete it

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. We may keep a limited record for longer where we are required to by law, or where it is needed to resolve a dispute or complaint you have raised with us.

8.1 Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. When you do, we permanently remove all of your server-side personal information: your account and authentication records, workout sessions, sets, personal records, bodyweight entries, routines, crew memberships, device tokens and notification logs.

There are three things you should know about deletion:

  1. Crews you created continue to exist. A crew you created will remain available to its other members, with the reference to you as its creator removed. If you want the crew to disappear entirely, remove the other members before deleting your account.
  2. Backups. Our database provider keeps infrastructure-level backups for a limited period as part of its normal operations. Your data will drop out of those backups in accordance with the provider's retention practices, which is typically a matter of days to weeks.
  3. Notifications already sent. Push notifications that were delivered to other crew members' devices before you deleted your account (which may contain your display name) cannot be recalled.

8.2 Information on your own device

The copy of your workout data stored on your iPhone deliberately survives signing out, so that if you sign back in your history is still there. It is your own local copy and it stays under your control. To remove it, delete the Weld Strength app from your device.

9. How we keep your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. These include:

No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

10. Your rights: access, correction and complaints

Access. You can see most of your information directly in the app. You may also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and we will provide it free of charge within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before we do.

Correction. You can edit your display name, workouts, sets, routines and bodyweight entries in the app. If there is anything you cannot correct yourself, contact us and we will correct it. If we decline to make a correction, we will tell you why and note your request on your record.

Deletion. See section 8.

Notifications. You can disable push notifications for Weld Strength in your iPhone's Settings.

Complaints. If you believe we have mishandled your information, please contact us first at privacy@weldstrength.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within seven days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.

11. Children

Weld Strength is designed for adults engaged in strength training. It is not directed at children, and you must be at least 16 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Overseas users and overseas disclosure

Where your data is stored. Our database provider, Supabase, hosts your information in Japan (Tokyo). This means your personal information is stored outside Australia. Japan has data protection laws that provide a level of protection substantially similar to the Australian Privacy Principles, and our provider is contractually required to protect your information. By creating an account you consent to your information being transferred to and stored in Japan for this purpose. Apple and Vercel are global providers whose servers may be located in the United States or elsewhere. Our email provider, Resend, processes account emails in Japan.

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. If you use Weld Strength from the UK or EEA, data protection law in those places may also apply. Our legal bases for processing your information are: performance of our agreement with you to provide the app (account and training data); your consent (bodyweight and other health-related information, which you can withdraw by deleting those entries or your account); and our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure. You have the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your information, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in section 1.

13. Payments and subscriptions

Weld Strength currently generates no revenue. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions or paid features enabled, and we do not collect any payment or billing information. If we introduce paid features in future, we will update this statement and tell you what payment information is collected and by whom before you are asked to pay anything.

14. Changes to this statement

We may update this statement from time to time, for example if we add features or change providers. If we make a material change, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top of this statement shows when it was last updated. Continued use of the app after a change takes effect means you accept the updated statement.
